Last week went great for Doug. He reported to the boat and met all his fellow officers. Doug is now settling into a daily routine and getting in the swing of things. Saturday evening the Captain and his wife hosted a Hail/Farewell for Doug. All of the officers and wives got together for dinner in a more relaxed setting to get to know everyone. We both feel very welcomed and Kristin, the Captain's wife, gave me a very beautiful pendant of the boat's seal.
I was pretty under the weather last week but was able to return to work Tuesday and am feeling much better. Today I headed in to work for my second day back and an hour later they decided to close due to the winter blizzard heading our way. We are definitely in the middle of a Winter Wonderland! Everything is white and apparently the snow is supposed to keep coming down - we are looking at over a foot by this afternoon. I have forgotten what it feels like to have a 'snow day' but I am really enjoying having the day off from work. "Let it snow, let it snow, Let it snow!"
